ClickUp pricing: how the plans differ once your team starts paying
ClickUp is unusual among project management tools in one specific way: the free plan does not cap the number of people. Anyone can be added, forever, at no cost. That makes the first question different from the one a team asks about most other tools. The question is not how many seats to buy. It is which of the things a team uses every day quietly stop working on the free plan.
The answer is spread across a feature comparison table that runs to more than a hundred rows, and the word "Trial" appears in it more often than most readers expect. This article works through the plans as listed on the ClickUp pricing page in September 2026, in US dollars, including the AI plans that are sold separately from the main tiers.
What the plans cost
Prices are per user per month. The annual rate is advertised as saving up to 30 percent, which matches the gap on both paid tiers.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Aimed at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Forever | $0 | $0 | Unlimited members, core features only |
| Unlimited | $7 per user per month | $10 per user per month | Small teams needing Gantt, storage and time tracking |
| Business | $12 per user per month | $19 per user per month | Teams running dashboards and heavy automation |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contact sales | Governance, SSO, audit logs, data residency |
The page also carries a 100 percent money back guarantee, which lowers the risk of committing to a year before the team has settled in.
Free Forever: unlimited members, limited everything else
Free includes unlimited tasks and unlimited free plan members, collaborative docs, kanban boards, sprint management, calendar view, in app video recording, two factor authentication and 24/7 support.
Then the ceilings start. The ones most likely to be hit by a real team:
- 60 MB of file storage for the whole workspace
- 5 Spaces, with 40 Lists and 100 Folders per Space
- 1 Form
- 3 Whiteboards and 1 Wiki
- Chat message history kept for 30 days, Activity view for 1 day
- Automations limited to 5 active rules and 100 executions
- 2 Teams, meaning user groups
- Guests must be given full access, because guest permission controls are a paid feature
Several headline features appear on Free with the label "Trial" rather than a checkmark, including Gantt view, Timeline view, Workload view, Custom Fields, Portfolios, Custom Task Types and Email in ClickUp. Those are available to look at, not to rely on.
The practical reading is that 60 MB of storage and a 5 rule automation cap are what end the free plan for most teams, usually within weeks rather than months. The unlimited member count is real, but it applies to a workspace that cannot hold many attachments.
Unlimited: the first plan that behaves like a product
Unlimited is $7 per user per month billed yearly, or $10 billed monthly. It removes most of the caps above and adds the features a team doing client or project work reaches for:
- Unlimited Spaces, Folders and Forms
- Unlimited Gantt charts
- Unlimited storage
- Unlimited integrations and unlimited custom fields
- Native time tracking
- Goals and portfolio management
- Guests with permission control
- Resource management
- ClickUp Chat and Email in ClickUp
Native time tracking at $7 a seat is genuinely low for this category. Guests with permission control is the other line worth noticing, because it is what makes client access safe rather than merely possible.
Some ceilings remain. Lists per Space go from 40 to 200 and Folders from 100 to 200. Activity view extends from 1 day to 7. Whiteboards go from 3 to 10. Automations move to 500 active rules and 1,000 executions a month. Timeline view and Workload view are still marked as Trial on this tier, which surprises teams that assumed they came with Gantt.
Business: dashboards, automation volume and reporting
Business is $12 per user per month billed yearly, or $19 billed monthly. The jump from Unlimited is about volume and visibility rather than new categories of work:
- Unlimited dashboards with advanced cards
- Unlimited timeline views and unlimited activity views
- Unlimited message history
- Webhooks and automation integrations
- 5,000 automation executions per month, up from 1,000
- Mind mapping and private whiteboards
- Sprint points and reporting
- Portfolio workload management
- Custom exporting
- Google SSO and SMS two factor authentication
- Unlimited proofing
Lists per Space rise to 400 and Teams to 10. The honest test for Business is whether anyone is going to build and read dashboards every week. A team of six running two projects rarely does. A team where one person is accountable for reporting across everything usually does, and for them the $5 per seat difference is small against the time it saves.
Enterprise has no public price. It adds enterprise permissions and governance, unlimited custom roles, SAML SSO and SCIM provisioning, audit logs, session management, 250,000 automation executions a month, custom branding, data residency, HIPAA availability, live onboarding training and a customer success manager. API limits also move from 100 calls per minute to 10,000.
Reading the comparison table before buying
The plan cards near the top of the pricing page are marketing summaries. The decision is made further down, in the comparison table, and two things in it are worth understanding before a card goes in.
The first is the word Trial. It appears in cells where a reader expects either a checkmark or a blank, and it means the feature can be sampled on that plan rather than used. Gantt view, Timeline view, Workload view, Custom Fields, Portfolios, Clips, proofing and Email in ClickUp all carry it on at least one tier. Proofing and Clips are marked Trial on both Free and Unlimited, so a design team that assumed image annotation came with the $7 plan should check that row specifically.
The second is that several limits are counted per Space rather than per workspace. Lists per Space run 40 on Free, 200 on Unlimited, 400 on Business and 1,000 on Enterprise. Folders per Space run 100, 200, 400 and unlimited. Spaces themselves are capped at 5 on Free and unlimited above it.
That structure rewards teams who organize work into several Spaces and punishes teams who put everything in one. A workspace on Unlimited with a single Space holding every client is capped at 200 Lists, while the same work split across four Spaces has 800 available. Nothing on the pricing page says this outright, but it is how the ceilings compose.
A few smaller rows change daily life more than their size suggests. Activity view covers 1 day on Free and 7 days on Unlimited before going unlimited on Business. User groups, called Teams, are capped at 2, 3 and 10 across the three lower tiers. API calls are limited to 100 per minute on every plan below Enterprise, which matters for anyone planning to sync data with another system on a schedule.
AI is priced as a separate subscription
This is the part that changes the arithmetic most, and it is easy to miss because it sits below the main plan table.
ClickUp sells AI as its own set of plans, layered on top of whichever tier the workspace is on:
| AI plan | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Free Forever | $0 | Trial access to advanced AI features |
| Brain AI | $9 per user per month | Unlimited AI assistant, AI chat and writing, Enterprise Search across the workspace, plus 1,500 AI Super Credits per user per month |
| Everything AI | $28 per user per month | Unlimited notetaker, AI fields, AI automations and dashboards, plus 5,000 AI Super Credits per user per month |
Beyond the included allowance, AI Super Credits cost $0.001 each, sold at $10 per 10,000. The section is advertised as saving up to 20 percent with yearly billing.
The number to sit with is $9. On a workspace paying $7 a seat for Unlimited, adding Brain AI more than doubles the per seat cost, to $16. Everything AI at $28 a seat costs four times the underlying plan. Neither is unreasonable for what it does, but a budget built on "$7 a user" will be wrong by a wide margin if the team expects the AI features to be part of the deal.
Worked totals
Using the listed yearly rates, before tax:
| Team size | Unlimited (per year) | Business (per year) | Unlimited plus Brain AI (per year) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 users | $420 | $720 | $960 |
| 8 users | $672 | $1,152 | $1,536 |
| 15 users | $1,260 | $2,160 | $2,880 |
Paid monthly instead of yearly, five users on Unlimited is $50 a month rather than $35, and five users on Business is $95 rather than $60. For a team still deciding whether the tool fits its way of working, that premium buys an exit, and the money back guarantee softens the other direction.
Choosing a plan
Work from what stops rather than from what is included.
A workspace with few attachments and simple task lists. Free. The 60 MB storage cap and the 5 automation rules are what will end it, so watch those two numbers rather than the member count.
Any team that needs Gantt charts, time tracking or controlled guest access. Unlimited. This is the realistic floor for project work, and at $7 a seat yearly it is priced accordingly.
Reporting across several projects, automation running constantly, or single sign on through Google. Business.
Audit logs, SAML, SCIM, data residency. Enterprise, which means a sales conversation.
AI as part of daily work. Price it separately and add it to whichever line above applies, because it is not included in any tier.
One more comparison is worth making before committing. ClickUp's model is a deep feature set gated tier by tier, which is why the comparison table is so long. Other project management tools take the opposite approach and put every view on every plan, limiting instead by number of people and number of boards, so no feature ever sits behind a tier. That produces a different total at the same headcount and, more importantly, removes the need to audit a hundred row table before buying. The full list of comparisons puts several tools side by side, and the feature list shows what a flat model includes.
What to change first
Before upgrading, check two numbers in the current workspace: how much file storage is in use against the 60 MB free cap, and how many automation executions run in a normal month. Those decide whether Free is ending for a real reason or a fixable one. If the team wants Gantt, chat and boards without auditing which tier each one sits on, it is worth comparing against Pinateca, where those are free for up to five people and ten boards.
Q1. Is ClickUp really free for unlimited users?
Yes, Free Forever allows unlimited members with unlimited tasks. The limits are elsewhere: 60 MB of file storage for the workspace, 5 Spaces, 1 form, 3 whiteboards, 5 active automation rules with 100 executions, and 30 days of chat history.
Q2. Which ClickUp plan includes Gantt charts?
Unlimited Gantt charts are listed on the Unlimited plan at $7 per user per month billed yearly. On Free, Gantt appears as a trial rather than a permanent feature. Unlimited timeline views arrive one tier higher, on Business.
Q3. How much does ClickUp AI cost on top of a plan?
Brain AI is listed at $9 per user per month and Everything AI at $28 per user per month, both separate from the main plan. Extra AI Super Credits cost $0.001 each, sold at $10 per 10,000.
Q4. What is the difference between Unlimited and Business?
Business adds unlimited dashboards with advanced cards, unlimited timeline and activity views, webhooks, 5,000 automation executions a month instead of 1,000, mind maps, private whiteboards, sprint reporting, Google SSO and unlimited proofing.
Q5. Does ClickUp offer a refund?
The pricing page carries a 100 percent money back guarantee. Paying monthly rather than yearly also limits exposure while a team is still deciding, at $10 per user instead of $7 on Unlimited.
