The ClickUp Unlimited plan costs $7 per user per month on yearly billing or $10 per user per month on monthly billing, according to ClickUp's pricing page on October 8, 2026. It unlocks unlimited storage, Spaces, Folders, Forms, Gantt charts, Custom Fields and integrations, and it lets you give guests restricted permissions. What the name does not tell you is that several features still run on use counters after you pay: Timeline and Workload stop at 100 uses, Mind Map at 40, Map at 5, and export from List and Table views at 5. Automations are capped at 1,000 actions a month and pause when the cap is reached. This article is about the paid decision: what Unlimited actually buys, what a year of it costs for a real team, where the counters still bite, and how to tell whether Unlimited or Business is the plan your team will end up on.
What the Unlimited plan includes
ClickUp lists Unlimited as "Everything in Free Forever, plus" a set of upgrades. Checked against the pricing page and the help center's feature availability articles on October 8, 2026, these are the parts that change daily work.

Two of these are what most teams are paying for. Unlimited Gantt and unlimited storage remove the two walls that most small teams hit first. If those are the only reasons the team is looking at a paid plan, Unlimited is likely enough, and the rest of this article is a check that nothing else will surprise you later.
Unlimited also opens the door to working with clients and contractors properly. Guests can be given permission controls instead of full edit access, and read-only guests are unlimited on paid plans. For agencies and teams that bring outside people into a few Lists, that alone can justify the upgrade.
The counters that still run after you pay
The word "Unlimited" describes some rows of the table, not the plan as a whole. ClickUp's "Views feature availability and limits" help article lists the following on the Unlimited plan, as of October 8, 2026.

A "use" in ClickUp's terms is not a month of access. The pricing FAQ says uses are a demonstration of paid features, they are cumulative across the whole Workspace, and they do not reset. When the counter runs out, no data is lost, but nobody in the Workspace can create or edit items with that feature until the plan changes.
Which counters matter for a project lead
Workload and Timeline are the two that change the plan decision. Workload is the view a team lead opens to see who has too much on next week. Timeline lays several projects or people out on one horizontal axis. A lead who opens each of them daily will spend 100 uses in a few months, and because the count is shared by everyone in the Workspace, it goes faster when several people use the view.
Export is the other one to watch. Five exports from List and Table views is enough for an occasional report, but not for a weekly status sheet sent to a client. Teams that report in spreadsheets should count how often they export today before choosing Unlimited.
Automations pause, they do not slow down
ClickUp's automations help article states that action limits reset on the first of every month, Pacific time, and that when the limit is exceeded, the Workspace's automations are paused for the rest of that month. Owners and admins get alert emails at 90 percent and 100 percent. On Unlimited, task webhooks, Automations integrations and Chat webhooks are not available. They start on Business.
A team that relies on automations for handoffs, such as moving a task to a reviewer when the status changes, should look at its current monthly action count before upgrading. If the number sits near 1,000, the paused automations will arrive on a busy day.
What a year of Unlimited costs
The per-user price is only part of the bill. ClickUp's pricing FAQ sets out several rules that change the total.
- The whole Workspace upgrades together. Every member is billed. It is not possible to pay for only the people who need Gantt.
- People inside the organization count as paid users, even if they are invited as guests.
- Each Workspace is billed separately. Two Workspaces means two upgrades.
- Added users are prorated for the time left in the billing cycle.
- Guest seats are tied to paid users. Unlimited gives 5 guest seats for a Workspace with one paid user, plus 2 seats for each additional paid user. Read-only guests are unlimited.
Here is what that means for three common team sizes, using the prices on the pricing page on October 8, 2026. The page does not show tax in these figures, so local tax may be added on the invoice.

The difference between yearly and monthly billing is $3 per user per month. For a team of ten, that is $360 a year. Yearly billing makes sense once the team is sure it will stay on ClickUp. Monthly billing is the safer choice during the first quarter, when the team is still learning whether the counters above will force a move to Business.
ClickUp states a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee with a full refund if requested within 30 days. Cancelling keeps the current plan running until the end of the billing cycle, unless the team chooses to downgrade immediately. The pricing FAQ also lists discounts for nonprofits, students and educators, and a credit program for startups, so organizations in those groups should apply before paying full price.
AI is a separate line on the invoice
The Unlimited plan does not include ClickUp's paid AI. On October 8, 2026 the pricing page listed AI as its own set of add-ons, priced per user per month: Brain AI at $9 and Everything AI at $28. Both plans add AI Super Credits, which are shared across the Workspace and also sold separately at $10 per 10,000 credits. Every plan, including Unlimited, comes with some AI usage under "AI Free Usage," marked "Limits apply."
This matters when comparing quotes. A team of ten on Unlimited billed yearly pays $840 a year for the plan. If the same team turns on Brain AI for everyone at the listed $9 per user per month, the total for the year rises by $1,080. Teams that plan to use AI for summaries and writing should price the plan and the AI add-on together, and decide whether everyone needs AI or only a few people.
Unlimited or Business: where the line sits
Business was listed at $12 per user per month on yearly billing and $19 on monthly billing on October 8, 2026. The pricing page lists these Business additions over Unlimited: unlimited dashboards with advanced cards, unlimited message history, unlimited Activity views, unlimited Timeline views, webhooks and automation integrations, 5,000 automations per month, Mind Mapping, private whiteboards, custom exporting, sprint points and reporting, portfolio workload management, Google SSO, and SMS two-factor authentication.
The simplest way to decide is to name the view the person running projects opens every morning.
- If it is a List, Board, Calendar or Gantt view, Unlimited covers it with no counter. Unlimited is the plan.
- If it is Workload or Timeline, the counter on Unlimited will run out. Business is the realistic plan, and paying for Unlimited first only delays the move.
- If it is a dashboard for reporting, check the dashboard limits in the help center before choosing. The pricing page puts unlimited dashboards with advanced cards on Business.
- If the team needs Google sign-in, Business is the first plan with Google SSO.
For a team of ten, the gap between the two plans on yearly billing is $600 a year ($840 against $1,440). That is the price of removing the Workload and Timeline counters, private views, calculated columns and webhooks. Some teams will find it cheap for what it removes. Others will realize they never open those views.
A two-week check before upgrading
Most upgrade regrets come from paying for a plan based on the feature list rather than on how the team works. A short check avoids that.
- Count who will be billed. List every member in the Workspace, including people from your own organization who were added as guests. Those people are billed as paid users on a paid plan.
- Count the Workspaces. If the team has a second Workspace for experiments or a client, decide whether to merge it or pay for it.
- Write down the views each lead uses daily. Ask the two or three people who run projects which views they open, and how many times a day. If Workload or Timeline is on the list, price Business.
- Look at the automation history. Check how many automation actions the Workspace runs in a normal month, and whether any automation depends on webhooks.
- Count exports. If a weekly client report is exported from a List or Table view, five exports will not cover a month.
- Decide on AI separately. Decide who actually needs Brain AI or Everything AI before turning it on for the whole Workspace.
- Start monthly. Use monthly billing for the first two or three months, then switch to yearly once the counters have proven they are not a problem.
When a different pricing model is the better fit
ClickUp's model is broad: docs, whiteboards, chat, sprints, goals, time tracking and automation in one Workspace, with each feature gated by its own plan rule. Teams that use most of that breadth, and that have someone who enjoys setting it up, get a lot from Unlimited or Business.
For a team of five to fifteen whose daily need is a board, a Gantt chart, a calendar and a place to talk about tasks, the counters are the part that takes time to manage. Some project management tools price differently. One kanban board tool, for example, puts all eight of its board types, including kanban, Gantt, calendar, list and a resource board that shows who has work assigned on which dates, plus chat and custom fields, on the free plan for up to 5 people and 10 boards. Its Standard plan is $5 per user per month, or $4 billed annually, excluding tax, and the features are the same as the free plan. That model does not try to match ClickUp's docs, sprints or automation engine. A team that depends on those will lose them by switching. A team that mainly wants predictable billing for boards and schedules can compare the two side by side on the comparisons page.
What to change first
Before paying for Unlimited, ask the person who runs your projects which view they open first each morning, and check that row in ClickUp's views table. If it says unlimited on Unlimited, upgrade on monthly billing. If it shows a use counter, price Business or run one live project for two weeks in a board tool such as Pinateca before committing to a yearly plan.
